Bedding for the Fashionista

As with throw pillows, there are approximately a bazillion fabulous options for bedding. And I for one can never get enough. Truly, great bedding can make a bedroom -- and it's far easier to swap out with the seasons (or your mood) than furniture. If you're a lover of linens like me, then you'll be thrilled to hear about a few more wonderful options to add to your wish list. Two of my favorite fashion designers are jumping into the home goods market by launching bedding collections at Bloomingdale's this month.

Diane Von Furstenberg's new bedding collection (available now) is, unsurprisingly, all about bold, colorful prints that are right on trend (think batik and animal print). In short, exactly the kind of bright, bold prints that I gravitate towards (and why I covet DVF's iconic wrap dresses). One could argue that it would take an adventurous, confident person to pull these rooms off, but I'm a big believer of "fake it til you make it." Basing a bedroom around some of these prints will not only make you look confident, but ultimately feel confident. After all, how could you wake up in one of these beds and not feel like you could take on the world?

Kate Spade's collection (available later this month) is softer, with a feminine, preppy vibe with that slightly playful twist that the label is famous for. These are the pretty linens you'd expect to see on in a chic bachelorette pad or perhaps in the guest rooms of a classic east coast beach house. Regardless, these are the types of linens that make me sigh and think "oooh....pretty."

Me too. How I'd love to put some of Kate Spade's in my own bedroom! We alternate between a nice brown and white set from West Elm, and a very colorful set from Pottery Barn, and an all white set. So Matt, of course, thinks we're all set. I, of course, disagree! :)

I am excited about the Kate Spade collection. But I must admit we don't have enough bed linens and the shape of our sheet sets are not so pretty. I need to get some new ones. BTW, that fireworks paper in the first Kate Spade image is going in Maddie's bedroom....

I love the Kate Spade bedding, but as I allow my german shepherd on my bed to sleep occasionally, I will just have to dream about them, and wait until my son (who is 10) leaves home, so that I can turn his bedroom into a pretty guest room.

Why do they torture us so? Both lines are going to be fabulous. Hope you all are staying warm tonight? Gosh can it get colder, I think NOT!!

Sending warm thoughts your way ~

I love bed linens also! I can sew on a really basic level, but it is good enough to do tons of cool things to a bedroom with the inspiration of a really fab spread or color scheme. Thanks for the heads up on what is new in linens.
I am so glad I found you through Its Great to Be Home. You are on it's "Must Visit" list and I certainly agree. WHEN is your baby due?

You know, I have such a hard time finding bedding I really like. I FINALLY found a new set that fit my requirements and colour scheme (I didn't want to get anything made to save $).

I just found it very difficult to find a set with most of the things that I was looking for but glad I finally found it!

I'm off to check out the DVF line - you know I can't resist all that color! We have a Pottery Barn quilt and duvet that we alternate between (one navy, the other colorful) and I'm wanting something more neutral with accent pillows. I'm guessing the hubby will be hard to convince. :)
