Dachshund Bookends at any Budget

As a bibliophile and a dachshund owner (and lover), I am naturally drawn to just about any pair of dachshund bookends. But even if a wiener dog hasn't stolen your heart and/or taken over your home, these bookends bring a nice dose of levity to your decor: As your book collection grows, so too does Fido. Above is a shot of my own pair of dachshund bookends (a Christmas present from my sister-in-law) framing my small collection of Penguin Classics in my office. [By the way, I'm trying to decide what color to paint out the back of the bookshelf -- any suggestions?] Update: I received a number of inquiries regarding the bookshelf itself. I got it from Overstock a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, this particular style is no longer available, but the companion pieces (smaller shelves, medicine cabinet, linen tower, etc.) can be viewed HERE. It's actually marketed as a bath cabinet, but I think it works equally well elsewhere, don't you?

If you're in the market for your own set of playful bookends, there are dachshund bookends at just about every price point:

Source list: 1. Platinum: Dachshund bookends - brown (acrylic, $265) available at Barney's. 2. Gold: Dachshund bookends (stonewear and wood, $150) available at Jonathan Adler. 3. ATM: Jonathan Adler Dachshund bookends (white resin, $39.95) available at Barnes & Noble.

Your Adler bookends are darling! Love them w the Penguin books.

Are your wall plum color? How about a toned down / softer shade for the back of the bookshelf?

I love them all! Yours are my favorite! What about painting the back of the book shelves the color green that is framing the background of your blog? It looks pretty with the purple? (my own home office is a pale lavender and grass green)

I love yours best but then they're Adler so naturally.
I think I'd go with a deep gray shade with an undertone of the wall color. Your colors are so urbane that anything down a few shades from the walls may look to country....but hey just my opinion.

I love that shelf - it has a very Adler spirit about it, which is perfect with the bookends. Maybe a soft blue? a very, very toned down shade of blueberry (heavy on the white mix)? I love blueberry and plum together - maybe the color scheme can be based off of a fruit still life!

Love your bookends! And your bookcase... the Greek key detail is great. As for back of the case color: on my monitor, there's a faint blue hue in the shadows that makes me think a pale blue would be a good choice. Perhaps a lighter shade of the blue on the left-most Penguin.

I like yours the best - so playful and fun! And I LOVE that chest/dresser - where did you get it? Is it available online? And oh what a fun project to paint the back of the shelves...how about a light cool blue/turquoise? Or a pop of creamsicle orange? Would that be too much? You could always do a different shade of purple - more of a lilac - to fit right in. Can't wait to see what you decide!

I want ones that look just like the ATM version, but is a cat instead! There's a lot of trendy dog stuff out there, but all the cat stuff is made for old ladies with no taste.

Hmm...business opportunity?

i would say put wallpaper in some fabulous pattern! is your wall plum? maybe some beige-white with gold details? it's just as easy as painting (well, easier i think!) you could use 2-3 different wallpapers, maybe one stripey and two more patterned?
have a sweet day :)

These are great. I've always loved the giraffe lamps from Adler and wanted to put them in my son's room. But, they are a little out of my price range. These dachshund bookends will provide a little Adler in his room and will do the trick! Thanks for the tip!
