My distraction...

As many of you have suspected for weeks now, I am indeed pregnant! As of today, I'm 14 weeks and 5 days along, which means I'm just into the second trimester and due March 8, 2011. This ultrasound was taken two weeks ago at a routine first trimester screening. I'll be back at the doctor's this Wednesday for (yet another) check-up. So far, everything's looking great and I'm feeling good. I feel very blessed that I was able to get through the first trimester without morning sickness or weight gain. Unfortunately though, I have been suffering from truly miserable fatigue that's made it all but impossible for me to do anything other than work and sleep -- which is why I've been such a terrible blogger the past 6 weeks or so.

Recently, I've noticed that I'm slowly starting to perk up...and that means my blogging will be perking up, too. Of course, expect more postings on pregnancy, babies and -- of course -- nurseries than I've done in the past, but I promise not to alienate those of you who aren't pregnant or who don't have young children. Rest assured there will be plenty of posts of decorating and style that have absolutely nothing to do with children. Above all though, I wanted to thank you all for your patience and understanding as I've taken the end of summer to focus on these major mental and physical adjustments. Your sweet notes and comments have been much appreciated. Believe me, I've missed y'all big time.

Congratulations!!! I knew it, from the moment I saw the Knackered post! And from our discussion in Princeton when you alluded to not being parents - yet - I knew you wanted to be a mom, soon. I am SOOO incredibly happy for you and Dave! I didn't suffer from morning sickness either - and I too was just unbelievably exhausted for the first trimesters. It gets better from here Averill. I can't wait to read all of your baby related posts! And others too, of course. Enjoy being pregnant! I can't wait to see photos of you!! Congratulations again!!!

Congratulations, Averill!!! How exciting! I remember coming home from work during the first trimester and falling asleep on my bed or sofa before I could even get my shoes off. It's exhausting work growing a human being!

Congratulations, Averill!! Great news! I had a little nausea the first trimester, but fatigue was my biggest issue too. I craved strawberries and meat like no other - go figure, both are rich in iron. Take care of yourself and your little one!!

That is awesome news. You both must be so excited! Glad to hear that you've been feeling well except for the fatigue. Not much you can do to cure that except sleep, so I'm glad you've been doing that and taking care of yourself. SOOOOO happy for you!

I am 33 weeks and have gained 10 lbs so far...but it feels like far more...I swear my maternity clothes barely fit anymore!!!! I am in Dallas house-hunting and we are putting in an offer this week on a house I love....so, assuming all goes well....my nursery planning will finally kick into high gear as well.....better late than never. We can compare notes through our blogs! Congrats again!

Hooray!! I expected as much. :) Sounds like your first trimester was similar to mine - no major sickness but mono-like fatigue. So I'm glad that it hasn't been too bad and I hope that you continue to have a healthy pregnancy. Junior is excited to welcome another blog baby very soon! :)

Oh my gosh - I have the innate ability to miss out just when something really important is being announced. I am so thrilled that it's good news and I'm over the moon for you & Dave. You & baby come first & we bloggers will always be coming back to check on you. I apologize for being so bad at reading & commenting. I unlike you, have no excuses. Again Averill, heartfelt congratulations. You & Dave will make magnificent parents.

I KNEW IT! Ha! You will not believe... when you mentioned you were taking time, and would be posting less, I was telling my friend how much I enjoy your blog, and hope that all is okay. I knew it! Or, least I had hoped that this was the distraction you were talking about. I am way behind on my blog reading this week, though, and found out through Lindsey this morning on Twitter :) Congratulations to you and your husband! So glad you had a smooth first trimester. I can't imagine what that would be like. . . . So happy for you and I just know your nursery will be fabulous!

Averill! How exciting! I've been rather consumed with the start of school and all things Oliver and only just started to dig through the back log of posts in my reader. What a lovely surprise. I'm just thrilled for you and can't wait to read more about your nursery plans. Wish I knew about blogs when I did pregnancy the first time...my only inspiration for nursery stuff was the Pottery Barn Kids catalog (not bad - but certainly not all there is to nursery decorating!)
