Love is....
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

Thanks for your comment, Averill....just about any of my prints are available on canvas. Let me know if there's something specific you need. I will be introducing more soon. Have a great weekend!

Averill I love the poetry you are posting brings back the true old romance of days gone by. Wish we had more of that in our lives, but you are bringing a touch back to us, thankyou. Also aren't those cobalt shoes darling. I am looking for some cobalt accessories and I thought those are so cute with jeans or a cute skirt. I am doing a post on yellow later in the week. Found some really cute things. I guess I am getting Spring fever, thinking of bright and happy colors. Kathysue
This poem was in "Four Weddings and a Funeral" (the funeral). Chokes me up every time. Gorgeous choice of photo, too.
